SHOCKING! Termites Invade Basement

UPDATE: Professional Pest Managers have informed us that these were termites.

Intrepid photo journalist Peter braved the torrential downpours this morning to bring you these horrendous images from our cellar. Viewer discretion is advised.

Beginning as early as sunrise an ant army began staging its invasion of ten south in the depths of our musty basement. One by one the winged formicidae swarmed in formation around the washer and dryer units. It is unknown what their intentions are with our most precious appliances but one thing is for sure: these insects are not welcome in our basement.

As I approached the regiment of ants with the prying eyes of my Minolta Dimage Z1 I was immediately deemed a threat by the angry ant general. Insects swarmed around me like a tornado, whirling as I photographed the impending invasion. Below you'll find images and a video of the devastation that awaits us all. This is terrible. This should call for a pest control specialist to be able to kill and paste out those termites. I think in this case, pest control companies should be aware and prevent for safety. pest control companies

We had the same problem last year but my sister had the great idea to call a termite extermination company that advertised their services nearby and they managed to fix it until it was to late. However, we have been told that the colony was breeding under our home for more then several months in silence and we didn't have a clue. Odd! Termites are scary! Mike

Disgusting! I would have fled, never to return. It is hard to believe that anyone should have to live under these conditions in this day and age and in a city such as Richmond. The landlords should be forced to send one night in the bug infested basement and another in one of their freezing apartments. This is supposed to be a nice part of Richmond, not some tenement building in the inner city slums of the last century.

All I can say is, being a mom of a previous tenant...if you can move---do it! I realize that the location is a great one, but things need to be taken care of in a timely manner. While I was in the apartment the landlord came in two different times with barely a knock on the door. I'm sorry, but that seems highly unethical to me! It made me wonder what happened when no one was home....?
