SHOTS FIRED!

A tranquil Saturday evening on the Boulevard turned into a nightmare when an altercation at the intersection with Ellwood developed into a drive by shooting.

At approximately midnight a white extended cab F150 truck and sedan were situated window to window at the well known intersection.

"These two vehicles were at the stoplight talking smack to one another, the light turned green and the verbal dispute continued," said one witness who declined to be identified.

After a few moments of ongoing hostile banter the pickup made an abrupt and unannounced left turn onto Ellwood and fired three rounds from a semi-automatic firearm in an unknown direction.

The sedan fled the scene northbound on Boulevard while the truck made a high speed getaway westbound on Ellwood.

Disappointment

Local residents with obvious concerns about gunfire on the Boulevard called 911 at 12:04 only to wait nearly a minute before a dispatcher answered the line.

"After providing a detailed description of the incident for nearly 3 minutes the dispatcher assured us officers would be responding to the scene." Said one concerned resident.

Boulevardizens waited for approximately ten minutes to notice an increased police presence and even then officers were not relayed the description of the incident.

A visiting member of DC law enforcement informed a passing officer about the details of the incident that 911 failed to relay.
